Thanks all for your replies!

Bootloader sounds like fun, however, I might be doing other stand-allone things too.
I've been looking in creating DIY DIL clip this seems to me as the coolest solution :)
That'll both work out with both the JDM* ( it has an icp connector) or wisp. since other projects
( of other people) might be coming up involving different types of pics I think getting the wisp
would be a good addition to my options ( big mouth me). I'll allow me to work on any supported
type of chip on a breadbord i hope

In this project we're making an installation that senses your height, weight, and possibly
shoe-size. I was counting on all tree of them to be done with some kind of variable resisive
sensor( something called a shift register for shoe size?), like the infrared sensor I have, so
three ADC's would be fine. from what I understand the F88 can use the pic_adc library wich would
be great. I could put all three of them in one chip, use a digital switch for the trigger, and
have a perl script sitting on the pc to put the data into a mysql database.

What added value would I gain from the separate ADC0831 chip? would it be an option to use next to
the 16f628? indeed I already have a couple of those ( I had 'hardware class' on the pic 16f628 so
afterwards I got some from classmates too) for experimentation. three channels would be enough

bye!

Matthijs.

P.S. Here's a note to those who debug serial communication using linux: if you use the program
minicom use the -l switch - otherwise it'll try to interpret characters as hex (0x..) showing you
'gibberish' - same goes for PureData's comport object. Window's hyperterm works out of the box.
